Jean Guy, 90, Originator of the ASID Showcase House

Jean E. Guy, 90, died on Feb. 22, 2011 in Las Cruces, N.M. Born to James and Mary Eccles on March 22, 1920 in Oak Park, she graduated from Oak Park and River Forest High School and the Harrington School of Interior Design in Chicago.

She married Samuel Guy on Dec. 26, 1941 and enjoyed a long career as an interior designer of both residential and commercial properties in the western suburbs. As president of the American Society of Interior Designers, she initiated the first ASID Showcase House for the Oak Park and River Forest area, to benefit the Infant Welfare Society, and was an active participant in the showcase house for many years until her move to Las Cruces, N.M.

Mrs. Guy enjoyed having many happy family gatherings at her Lake Michigan home, "Bonnie Doon," near Saugatuck, Mich.

Jean Guy is survived by her children, Suzanne (Dan) Churchill and Bruce Cameron; her grandchildren, Janet (Bryan) Stinde, Guy (Cynthia) Cameron, John (Pat) Churchill, Sean (Jennifer) Cameron, and Robert (Amy) Churchill; and her great-grandchildren, Samantha, William, Scott, Jason, Stephen, Matthew, Zachary, James, Claire and Noah.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel, and her daughter, Barbara Cameron. Family members will gather for a memorial service in Michigan. Memorials to the American Cancer Society are appreciated.
