I support the candidacy of Dee Millard for school board in District 200. In a time of uneasiness between faculty, administration, parents and the board, Dee is a voice of reason and balance. She can be relied upon to balance the important economic concerns of the taxpayers with the interests of a rich program at the high school that will serve all of our students. Dee recognizes that “those things that are best” are not those things that are cheapest or easiest. She has earned the endorsement of the Faculty Senate because she is concerned to preserve the distinctive qualities of our high school, the qualities for which so many of us have moved to this community, and upon which the value of our property depends. Dee is uniquely able to achieve the kind of cooperation and respect among stakeholders in our high school that will result in a harmonious, honest and effective relationship between the board, the faculty and the administration. Such a relationship is urgently needed to create and sustain an environment of collaboration within the high school that will result in increased achievement for all of our students.
