Oak Park police are investigating an armed carjacking and robbery reported to have occurred on Monday afternoon between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Madison Street. The vehicle, a 2001 Ford Focus, has a temporary license plate.

The offender reportedly threatened the victim with a revolver, robbed the victim and then fled the scene in the victim's vehicle.

The suspect was described as a black man in his 40s, 5-feet 11-inches tall and weighing about 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black Nike pullover hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, a hat and black Nike athletic shoes.

The carjacking and robbery were reported to Oak Park police on Tuesday, Feb. 2.

The estimated loss was reported as $1,866.

Oak Park police Commander LaDon Reynolds said that there were no reported injuries, and the case was currently under investigation.
