Bachner for River Forest trustee

I write in support of Erika Bachner, candidate for River Forest village trustee. She is exactly the fresh new voice our community needs now. Erika is a proven leader of our community as well as a hard worker. She co-chairs Roosevelt's IMPACT/Parent Enrichment Committee, and previously served on the executive board of Willard's PTO. She was integral to making River Forest a welcoming village. And she's a tireless fighter for causes beyond our village, for immigrant rights in our region and as an advocate for women's, immigrant, and disability rights in Springfield and Washington DC.

Development of the Madison Street and North Avenue TIF districts, as well as oversight of the troubled Lake and Lathrop project, will be among the highest priorities of the next board. Erika will contribute a unique viewpoint to these discussions. She has experience in both investment banking and real estate M&A, and thus a sophisticated understanding of development deals.

More importantly, she would be the only member of the board whose home is adjacent to a TIF — meaning she will share a unique and important perspective, as well as an understanding of how to communicate TIF developments, with those most immediately affected.

I hope River Foresters will take advantage of upcoming forums to meet Erika and listen to her ideas. She's truly the voice we need.
