Peeping Tom on the loose in Oak Park
An Oak Park woman reported that a man was peering into her window in the 100 block of South Grove Avenue at about 7 p.m. on Jan. 25.
The man was described as approximately 50 years old, 5-foot 6-inches tall, with a medium build, trim goatee and wearing a black hat, black coat and dark black pants.
Residential burglary arrest
Billedo Robles, 35, of the 1800 block of South 9th Avenue in Maywood, was arrested on Jan. 27 at 7:16 p.m. for a burglary that occurred in the 600 block of Home Avenue.
Zeferino Lara, 20, of the 1800 block of South Ridgeland Avenue in Berwyn, was arrested and charged with two counts of burglary, the first of which occurred on Oct. 27 in the 800 block of South Harvey Avenue and other on Oct. 30 in the 700 block of South Euclid Avenue.
Criminal damage to property
A landscaping light fixture was thrown through the living room window of a residence in the 100 block of Lemoyne Parkway on Jan. 24 at 5:43 p.m. The damage was estimated at $400.
Two large cinder blocks were thrown through the windows of a residence in the 800 block of North Lombard Avenue at 10:29 p.m. on Jan.25. The damage was estimated at $700.
Burglary to motor vehicle
A vehicle was burglarized in the 100 block of Garfield Street between 5 p.m. on Jan. 23 and 10 a.m. on Jan. 24. The offender entered the vehicle through an unlocked door and stole the vehicle owner's manual, three phone chargers, an asthma inhaler and cash. The estimated loss was $36.
A vehicle was burglarized in the 1000 block of South Scoville Avenue sometime between 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 24 and 5:49 a.m. on Jan. 25. The offender entered the vehicle by unknown means and stole a Tom-Tom GPS unit and a men's black Tommy Hilfiger watch. The loss was an estimated $225.
Theft under $500
A wallet containing credit cards, a checkbook and cash was stolen from an unlocked locker inside a business in the 200 block of South Marion Street sometime between 10 and 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 26. The loss was an estimated $25.
A residence was burglarized in the 700 block of South Oak Park Avenue sometime between 11:35 p.m. on Jan. 25 and 4:30 p.m. Jan. 26.
The offender gained entry to the residence through the basement via an unlocked window and then forced open a locked door to gain entry to the bedroom, removing a 60-inch flat-screen TV, a DVD player and a Bose surround sound system. The loss was an estimated $1,880.
A male juvenile Chicago resident was arrested at 12:48 p.m. on Jan. 28 and charged with two counts of theft after he was positively identified as the person who stole two separate packages from the front porches of two Oak Park homes, the first in the 800 block of North Kenilworth Avenue and the other in the 200 block of Iowa Street.
These items, obtained from the Oak Park and River Forest police departments, came from reports, Jan. 24-28, and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Anyone named in these reports has only been charged with a crime and cases have not yet been adjudicated. We report the race of a suspect only when a serious crime has been committed, the suspect is still at large, and police have provided us with a detailed physical description of the suspect as they seek the public's help in making an arrest.
