A 28-year-old Chicago man was charged Thursday with six felony counts of burglary for his alleged involvement in burglaries at several area churches, police said Friday.

Ahmad Rashad Buckley, of the 1400 block of North Mason Avenue in Chicago, had a bond hearing Friday and is being held by Oak Park police without bond, said Sgt. Michael Richardson.

Buckley was arrested by Oak Park police the night of Dec. 27 at Oak Park's St. Gregorios Orthodox Church after he was found inside the ceiling of a small utility room. A priest at the church was outside the building in the 1100 block of North Humphrey Avenue when he noticed the lights on inside. The priest called police around 10:45 p.m. The incident Dec. 27 was the third break-in at the church in less than two weeks. On Dec. 19, someone used a pry-type tool to break a side door and damaged the pastor's closet door, a pantry door and wood money boxes. The offender also took about $1,500 in cash as well as a sound mixer, keyboard and projector. The electronics were recovered in a church courtyard.

On Dec. 24, someone used a brick to break a glass window on the church's ground floor and broke the door on the donations collection box. Estimated damage was about $300.

Buckley admitted to breaking into Austin Boulevard Christian Church in the 600 block of North Austin Boulevard on Nov. 12 and 20, Richardson said. He also allegedly broke into Judson Baptist Church in the 1200 block of Austin Boulevard Nov. 19.

Well, let's see. Why would it allegedly be that most crimes in Oak Park are committed by male blacks? Could it be that just to the east is a lower socio-economic area populated mostly by blacks? Where I grew up, there was a lower socio-economic area just to the east of that was populated by whites. And guess what? Most of the crimes in the area where I grew up were committed by male whites. But you never saw the cops rounding up every male white that happened to resemble a suspect.

What led him to this. Good luck. Hopes he turns it around.

Violet to paraphrase Barney Frank "arguing with you is like arguing with the kitchen table" so I'm done.

mv113: With your logic, don't EVER mention height because then we'd round up every Tom, Dick, and Taekwon who is over 5'11"!

So Violet how does knowing a suspect is (for example) a 6' black male with a hat on help? Would you then suggest that we round up all 6' tall black men? Would you then know to avoid them? I'll put my head in the sand dunes if you pull yours out of your rectal duct.

@Violet You need to give up the campaign to get the WJ to disclose race in their news reports. Dan Haley has long had a policy to not highlight the crime committed by black people in Oak Park. The logic is that this race reporting would negatively impact the integration model Oak Park is attempting showcase.

Being poor and living an unhealthy livestyle will age your body fast.

He's 28? Looks more like 58.

@Anon: So your "logic" is that in a NEWS story about perps ON THE LOOSE, skin tone/ethnic descriptors are COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT and anyone questioning such an omission is obviously a stinking racist? I am a woman of mixed ethnicity (including African) and no doubt you are lily-white and guilty as hell about it. I don't have time for your phony baloney bleeding heart nonsense. Not when we are talking about armed robbers! It's a glaring, nonsensical policy by WJ and I call bee ess on them!

Very eloquently stated 'Phil of Ideas'. Violet Aura constantly trolls the comments contributing little more than race-baiting. I pity her because she's living a miserable existence. Racists only realize too late that they've wasted their entire lives and haven't contributed anything to the world.

mv113 is right about one thing: your constant banging of this drum shows your desire to validate a preconcieved notion that you hold about a group of people. Just marinate in your biases and assume all crimes are committed by people that look different.

Thank you Violet. Everyone knows the ethnicity of the offender, yet the WJ didn't mention that. Why? Because the majority of the crimes that happen in our village is perpetrated by blacks. If that sounds racist, then just look at the facts. The Bleeding Heart Bakery robbery/assault, robberies on the CTA, burglaries to our homes, stolen vehicles, etc. It's almost always blacks committing these crimes. How this sounds like a conspiracy theory is absurd mv113. You're just blind to the facts.

@MV113: Wrongo! Although you are right that when the perp is caught, it's unneccessary, this is EXACTLY what WJ does: describe height and weight and approx. age and NOT racial/ethnic descriptors like skin tone or suspected ethnicity. It has nothing to do with conspiracies and pure, unadulterated FACT, Cupcake. Now go insert your cranium back into that sand dunes...

It does not describe the man because it does not matter to the report. He has been caught and arrested so his physical description has no bearing. The question is why do you care? My guess is so you can try to validate a preconcieved notion that you hold about a group of people. The WJ does report descriptions of people suspected of a crime, when it still pertinent to the story. Now go back to trying to prove the CIA killed JFK and quit looking for a conspiracy where there is none.

Anyone venture to guess what this person looked like? Is that why WJ doesn't mention his description?

Here in Lisle at St. Joan of Arc, an 18th century Reliquary was stolen from the altar two years ago. One has to wonder if there is a theft ring going on, even in the suburban areas.
