Barbara Jean Cameron, 67, of Las Cruces, N.M., died on Dec. 22, 2010. Born in Oak Park on April 11, 1943 to Samuel and Jean (Eccles) Guy, she was married to Bruce Cameron for 47 years. She moved from River Forest to Las Cruces in 1999, and enjoyed the warm weather and beautiful views. During her lifetime, she worked as a nurse and owned a Southwest shop, "Gateway to Santa Fe," from which she retired. Known as "the walker" by friends and neighbors because of her daily routine, she was also an avid reader and enjoyed gardening and being in the sun. She had a special way of caring for others.
Barbara Cameron is survived by her husband, Bruce; her mother, Jean Guy; her two sons, Guy (Cynthia) Cameron and Sean (Jennifer) Cameron; her grandchildren, Scott, Justin, Zachary, James, and Claire Cameron; her sister, Suzie (Dan) Churchill; her niece, Janet Stinde; her nephews, John and Bob Churchill; and her beloved dog, Lobo. She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Guy, and her grandparents.
Memorial visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011 from 3 p.m. until time of service, 7 p.m., at Drechsler, Brown and Williams Funeral Home, 203 S. Marion St., Oak Park. A private family burial will be held at Mount Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst.
