Russell Fischer, 65

Village of OP employee for over 30 years

Russell Fischer, 65, died suddenly on Nov. 26, 2014. He grew up in Forest Park and attended Proviso East High School. He resided in Westchester for the last 23 years. Mr. Fischer was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. After returning from service, he studied at Triton College. He retired after more than 30 years of service with the village of Oak Park, where he started as an auto mechanic and worked his way up to fleet manager. He was an Auxiliary Police Officer for the village of Forest Park for many years. 

Russell Fischer is survived by his brothers, Gene and Jim (Judy) Fischer; his nephews, Alex, Eric and Anthony Fischer; and his friend and companion, Kate Terrazino. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Lucille Fischer. 

Services were held on Dec. 3 at Conboy-Westchester Funeral Home. Interment took place at Oak Ridge/Glen Oak Cemetery.

So sorry to hear of Russ's passing. It was always a pleasure talking with him at the garage. He was simply a good guy and we shared a lot of laughs.
