Oak Park and River Forest police reports Dec. 10-13

Attempted armed robbery in Oak Park
A Country Club Hills resident was the target of an attempted armed robbery in the 500 block South Austin Boulevard on Dec. 10 at 7:37 p.m., according to Oak Park police.
The victim was approached by two men, one of whom was armed with a silver semi-automatic handgun and the other with a baseball bat, who attempted to rob him. No details were given concerning the encounter, but police reported that the two men fled the scene in a black Chevy SUV and headed west on I-290. No loss was reported.
The first offender was described as a black male in his 40s, standing 5-foot-7, weighing 250 pounds, with a goatee and wearing a brown jacket and blue jeans. The other was described as a black male in his 30s, medium build, with dark skin, wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.
Packages stolen from porch
Two UPS packages were stolen from the front porch of a residence in the 900 block of South Kenilworth Avenue on Dec. 10 sometime between noon and 7:13 p.m., according to Oak Park police.
The packages contained two copper mugs and a pair of boys pants. The loss was an estimated $140.
Burglary to motor vehicle
A vehicle was burglarized in the 1000 block of South East Avenue sometime between 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 11 and 5:30 a.m. on Dec. 12, according to Oak Park police. The offender entered the vehicle through an unlocked door, ransacked the interior and stole $10 worth of coins.
A vehicle was burglarized in the 600 block of South Humphrey Avenue sometime between 7 a.m. on Dec. 11 and 1:14 p.m. on Dec. 12, according to Oak Park police.
The offender entered the vehicle through an unlocked door. Once inside, the offender stole a duffel bag containing cash, a black and red 12-volt jumper box, a Leatherman multi-tool, a Sterno stove, a Samsung cell phone, deer skin gloves, a flashlight/radio, a navy blue fleece blanket, a blue plastic rain poncho, a red folding shovel, white coveralls with hat, miscellaneous rope, tape and chalk.
The loss was an estimated $320, but on Dec. 12 at 11:08 a.m., the victim's duffel bag containing several of the items was recovered in the 100 block of South Austin Boulevard.
Residential burglary
A residence was burglarized in the 400 block of North Austin Boulevard on Dec. 11 between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 4:45 p.m., according to Oak Park police.
The offender used an unknown pry tool to defeat the lock of the rear door. They then ransacked the interior of the house. The loss is unknown, according to police.
Burglary/theft of vehicle
A residence in the 200 block of South Kenilworth Avenue was burglarized and the resident's vehicle was stolen on Dec. 12, sometime between 7:48 p.m. and 10:48 p.m., according to Oak Park police.
The offender entered the garage through an unlocked service side door and stole a white 1998 Chevrolet Blazer. The loss was an estimated $5,000.
Burglary arrest
A Berwyn juvenile was arrested and charged with burglary on Dec. 13 at 11:34 a.m. in the 6500 block of West Roosevelt Road, according to Oak Park police.
No additional information was provided.
These items, obtained from the Oak Park and River Forest police departments, came from reports, Dec. 10-13, and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Anyone named in these reports has only been charged with a crime and cases have not yet been adjudicated. We report the race of a suspect only when a serious crime has been committed, the suspect is still at large, and police have provided us with a detailed physical description of the suspect as they seek the public's help in making an arrest.
