More than 150 friends and fans of Ernest Hemingway enjoyed an evening of readings by actor John Mahoney at “A Hemingway Toast to F. Scott Fitzgerald” in November at FitzGerald’s. The reading explored the complex relationship of Hemingway and Fitzgerald, through readings from The Great Gatsby. Tim Gamble opened the evening for the Ernest Hemingway Foundation and music for the Roaring ’20s was provided by Brian Fowler and Char Luporini. Over $7,000 was raised during the evening to support the Foundation’s programs. Watch for a series of Hemingway short story discussions beginning Thursday, Jan. 6, at the Oak Park Public Library.
