More than 150 “Thank You” letters were sent out last week by Oak Park elementary school kids to local folks working during the Thanksgiving holiday.
It was the first project by a new, local nonprofit organization comprised of Oak Park moms. The Giving Project launched this month, its focus to involve kids in community service. The first project was a letter-writing campaign, sent to individuals who work in the service sector. While this first enterprise was the moms’ idea, eventually they hope the youngsters will come up with their own projects. Among the community members to receive a letter was Wednesday Journal — the paper actually got two (one pictured middle right).
