John Scott, 66
Retired Forest Park police officer
John L. Scott, 66, known to his friends as "Dr. John," died on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018.
An Oak Park native who attended Oak Park and River Forest High School, he aspired to become a police officer and later achieved his aspiration in 1977 when he began his police career with the Forest Park Police Department. He served the village of Forest Park and its residents for 24 years, with much devotion and distinction before retiring at the rank of sergeant.
Known best for his dedication to animals, he had a passion for working on hot rods and motorcycles, as well as an interest in radio-controlled airplanes and cars. He had a genuine love for life.
John is survived by all who loved him and by those he influenced throughout his time on this Earth.
A celebration of John Scott's life is being held at 1 p.m., on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1195 McCarthy Road, Lemont.
The family asks that instead of flowers, please donate to a local charity to carry on his goodwill for others.
