An Oak Park man was arrested at an Indiana hotel Saturday night for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl.

Samuel Henzel, 29, allegedly drove from Oak Park the evening of Oct. 30 to a Comfort Suites in the Indianapolis suburb of Westfield, where he met the girl.

Henzel had allegedly been chatting with the girl on the Internet, and made plans with her to engage in sexual conduct at the hotel.

However, the 12-year-old called Westfield police from the hotel room, and told them she had been sexually assaulted.

Westfield police arrived within minutes to find Henzel and the girl in the hotel room together.

After he was arrested, Henzel allegedly told police he had met the victim on the Internet and they had planned the meeting in Westfield together. He also admitted he knew the girl's age.

Westfield police turned the case over to the U.S. Attorney's office in Indianapolis soon after, and Henzel has been charged with child enticement and traveling in interstate commerce with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct.

If convicted, Henzel faces from 10 years to life in prison, as well as a maximum fine of $250,000, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's office.

THIS IS WRONG WRONG WRONG! When he was arrested I was in the police station! Where on earth did you get these facts? I am the victim and most of these statements are false!

To "what?": What, exactly, does low income housing and "diversity" have to do with this story? I know for a fact that Henzel a). does not live in "low income housing", and b). is white. Next time, check your classism and racism at the door, you just might make a fool of yourself if you don't.

Paragraph 3 is COMPLETELY wrong! Where did you get these facts?

Frankly, I feel a great deal more sorrow for the 12 year old girl and her family. Even if they aren't Oak Parkers. Please don't blame a little girl for her own rape. Lots of 12 year olds don't "use their heads".

29 year old man commits a sexual crime with a 12 year old....unless his mommy or sister or brother aided him in some way....THEY ARE NOT RELEVENT to the case.Grow up and bottom line it people....stop mudding up the waters. Criminal=Jailsimple as that!

I am one of the Oak Park liberals you are referring to and I can assure you that I don't believe that child molesters should go free or be given any sympathy. I do feel for his family as it must be awful to find out that your son/father/cousin/brother is a despicable person.

Susan: Whaa...??? Um...I don't see a lot of "condemnation" about this man, but as for his family, that could have been what caused him to do such an atrocity in the first place. I guess you must be uber liberal. They are the ones whose sympathies automatically go for the perp before the victim.

And to taxpayer ... I agree. I can only assume Susan is one of the OP'ers to promote the low income housing, and diversity in OP. I hope nothing ever happens to your family Susan, because if it had, i'm sure you'd feel a lot different. This pedophile drove across state lines and took advantage of a child. This trash deserves nothing except life in prison.

This is one of the instances where the OP perp got caught. I wonder if the concerned citizens of Oak Park are boycotting in front of his home, hanging signs that say "Child Molester in Residence". Probably not...many are too busy trying to control diversity, low income housing, and pot smokers.

As we condemn this crime, let's all remember that this man is also someone's child, someone's brother. My heart goes out to his family.

Muriel, if the girl used her head...she would never have made arrangements to meet anyone at a hotel.

Interesting to find that Sam Henzel was interviewed in this same Wed Journal back in Aug 2005. "http://www.wednesdayjournalonline.com/main.asp?SectionID=1&SubSectionID=1&ArticleID=2143&TM=66641.62"At that time, when asked about following bike rules he was quoted as saying "I only stop if something%u2019s physically in the way,". Seems as though he has maintained his same adherence to the law. Send him away and lose the key!
