If you live in River Forest and want to submit topics for address by potential school board candidates, you’ve got until Friday to get your ideas in.

District 90 Community Caucus is a citizens group formed to recruit, interview and endorse candidates for the April 7 board of education election.

Send your ideas about what to ask the candidates to Patty Henek, caucus chairperson, at 731 Bonnie Brae, River Forest, IL 60305, or e-mail them to district90caucus@gmail.com by Oct. 10.

Four seats on the D90 school board will be up for election in April. The caucus will endorse as many as four people to run for those open seats.

“The community caucus is a grass-roots organization and we are committed to representing the interests of all of the River Forest community,” Henek said. “Even if a person is unable to serve on the caucus, we want to provide the opportunity for him or her to participate in the pre-election process. The caucus will consider these suggestions during its planning session as the members prepare for the interview process.”

After members of the caucus review the applications, 30-minute interviews of the candidates will be scheduled by lottery for the evenings of Nov. 18, 19 and 20.

At the end of the interview process, caucus members will vote to endorse the candidates they deem most qualified for the school board election.

If you want to run for the school board, you can find applications at the River Forest Public Library, 735 Lathrop Ave.; Lincoln School, 511 Park Ave.; Roosevelt School, 7560 Oak Ave.; and Willard School, 1250 Ashland Ave. You can also request an application by e-mail at district90caucus@gmail.com.

Henek needs the completed applications by noon Nov. 11.

If you have a question about either deadline, you can also call Henek at 366-1360.
