A 25- to 35-year-old man reached behind the counter of an Oak Park camera shop the afternoon of Sept. 30, snatched a digital SLR camera and ran. The man allegedly took a Nikon D3000 camera from Holiday Camera, 1047 Lake St. in Oak Park. The offender allegedly went behind the counter, snatched the camera from a shelf and ran out of the store. He allegedly entered a 1993 tan Lincoln four-door car which drove away eastbound on Lake.

Armed robbery

A man in his 20s with a thin build and a hood over his head approached a woman next to her car on South Blvd. near Austin Blvd. on the night of Oct. 1 and asked for money. He then implied he had a gun and demanded the woman’s LG cell phone. She gave him the phone and he fled.

Theft

Four unattended one-quart bottles of Oberweis milk were stolen from the front porch of a home on the 700 block of S. Kenilworth Ave. in Oak Park the morning of Sept. 27.

A Chicago boy was arrested the afternoon of Sept. 27 on the 800 block of S. Highland Ave. in Oak Park, where he was charged with the theft of a bicycle from the 800 block of S. Harvey Ave. in Oak Park.

A purse was stolen mid-day on Sept. 28 from a shopping cart at Whole Foods, 7245 Lake St. in River Forest.

A dark green Cannondale bike was stolen the night of Sept. 27 from an open garage on the 800 block of S. Maple Ave. in Oak Park.

Two UPS packages containing a cover and accessories for an Amazon Kindle e-reader were stolen the afternoon of Sept. 27 from between the screen and front doors of a home on the 900 block of S. Grove Ave. in Oak Park.

A man’s wallet was stolen the night of Sept. 28 from a locker at FFC gym, 1114 Lake Street in Oak Park. The locker was reportedly opened with a key.

Two copper downspouts were stolen overnight between Sept. 28 and Sept. 29 from West Suburban Temple, 1040 Harlem Ave. in River Forest.

A man in his 20s wearing all black clothing stole a cream-colored Novana mountain bike with blue lettering the afternoon of Sept. 30 from an open garage on the 1100 block of Schneider St. in Oak Park.

A wallet and cash were stolen the afternoon of Sept. 30 from the cash box at Oak Park Yoga, 327 Chicago Ave.

Retail theft

Two girls allegedly stole four books the night of Sept. 27 from Borders, 1144 Lake St. in Oak Park.

Joe Burnett of Sauk Village, 38, was arrested the morning of Sept. 28 on the 100 block of S. Maple Ave. in Oak Park, where he was charged with felony retail theft from GNC, 1112 Lake St. in Oak Park. He was also charged with battery and resisting a peace officer.

Sixteen full propane tanks, valued at $960, were stolen sometime the day of Sept. 29 from CVS, 7929 North Ave. in River Forest. The storage cage’s lock had been cut.

Theft of motor vehicle

A 2009 Audi A4 was stolen overnight between Sept. 28 and Sept. 29 from a locked garage on the 1000 block of N. Humphrey Ave. in Oak Park. The screen on the window’s garage had been pushed out.

Possession of controlled substance

Gregory E. Mammel of Des Plaines, 23, was arrested the afternoon of Sept. 29 on the 400 block of S. Clinton Ave. in Oak Park, where he was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Counterfeit cash

The evening of Sept. 27, a woman in her 60s paid for a pop with a counterfeit $20 bill at CVS, 7929 North Ave. in River Forest, while a man in his 20s did the same at the pharmacy counter.

Warrant arrest

Anthony Sirmons, 30, was arrested just after midnight on Oct. 1 on the 7600 block of North Ave. in River Forest, where he was taken into custody for an active warrant for possession of cannabis out of Kane County.

Burglary

A silver iPod Nano was stolen from a car parked on the 400 block of S. Cuyler Ave. in Oak Park the morning of Sept. 27. The passenger side front window had been broken.

A black and silver Trek 6500 mountain bike was stolen overnight between Sept. 27 and Sept. 28 from a garage on the 700 block of N. Humphrey Ave. in Oak Park. The garage’s side door was allegedly pried open.

A TomTom GPS unit was stolen from a car that was parked on the 200 block of South Blvd. in Oak Park between Sept. 27 and Sept. 28.

A Garmin GPS unit was stolen from a car that was parked on the 200 block of N. Taylor Ave. in Oak Park overnight between Sept. 26 and Sept. 27. The car’s rear passenger side window had been smashed.

A 32-inch Panasonic HDTV was stolen from a home on the 800 block of N. Fair Oaks Ave. in Oak Park during the day on Sept. 28. Police believe the offenders entered the home through a closed but unlocked basement door.

Floyd Jacobs of Chicago, 47, was arrested by Oak Park police the night of Sept. 28 on the 800 block of N. Mayfield in Chicago, where he was charged with burglary to the garage on the 1000 block of N. Austin Blvd. in Oak Park.

A Pioneer combination TV and DVD player was pried from the dashboard of a car parked behind a home on the 300 block of N. Lombard Ave. in Oak Park overnight between Sept. 28 and Sept. 29. The car’s rear passenger window was also smashed.

A GPS unit was stolen sometime between Sept. 26 and Sept. 29 from a car parked behind an apartment on the 250 block of Washington Blvd. in Oak Park. The car’s back driver’s side window had been smashed.

An Xbox game console and video games, a black G-Shock watch and cash were stolen the morning of Sept. 29 from an apartment on the 800 block of S. Austin Blvd. in Oak Park Police believe the apartment was entered via a closed but unlocked back door.

A TomTom GPS unit was stolen the morning of Sept. 24 from a car parked on the 100 block of N. Humphrey Ave. in Oak Park. The car’s front passenger side window had been smashed.

A 5,000 watt generator was stolen from an unlocked garage on the 1000 block of S. Highland Ave. sometime between Sept. 24 and Sept. 29.

DUI

Terence Cunningham of Oak Park was stopped and arrested early the morning of Oct. 2 on the 800 block of N. Oak Park Ave., where he was charged with DUI.

Criminal trespassing

James Dale of Chicago, 54, was arrested the afternoon of Sept. 27 at the Oak Park Post Office, 901 Lake Street, where he was charged with criminal trespass to state supported property.

These items were obtained from police reports filed by the Oak Park and River Forest police departments from Sept. 27 to Oct. 1. Not all incidents that occurred are listed. Anyone named in reports has only be charged with a crime and cases have not yet been adjudicated.
