A marked police vehicle carrying two on-duty Chicago police department officers, was struck by another vehicle at the intersection of Harlem Avenue and Jackson Boulevard around 1 p.m. on Oct. 2.
The police vehicle, not in pursuit or responding to an emergency call, was traveling northbound on Harlem Avenue when a vehicle going west on Jackson Boulevard reportedly ran a red light and struck the squad car, according to Oak Park spokesman David Powers.
The front passenger side door was damaged in the collision, briefly trapping one officer inside the vehicle. That officer, who complained of neck pain, was transported to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood as a precaution. No other injuries were reported.
The driver of the westbound vehicle was expected to be cited for disobeying the traffic light, Powers said.
