Dr. Frederick Tiesenga, Director of Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery at West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, talks about the hospital's new da Vinci Si robotic surgical technology. The machine is the first of its kind to come to the Oak Park area.

Tiesenga said the robot allows doctors greater precision during surgical procedures, as doctors control the machine through a series of attachments that connect their hands and fingers to the robot. These attachments allow the doctor to control the robot as if they are conducting the surgery with their own hands, but with greater accuracy, given the machine's small size.
