Steven Murchie Cahill, 70, of Branson, Mo., died on Jan. 24, 2012 after a long illness. Born on Jan. 29, 1941 in Chicago to Jeannette and Arthur Cahill, he spent his childhood in Hyde Park and River Forest. He attended Oak Park and River Forest High School, where he served on the Student Council. He was captain of the swim team his senior year and served as a senior class officer. He also delivered a commencement speech at his 1959 high school graduation ceremony. In 1963, he graduated from Yale University with a B.A. in Economics and earned an MBA from the University of Chicago in the early 1970s.

Mr. Cahill served in the Marine Reserves and worked on Great Lakes ore boats during the mid- to late-1960s. He sold real estate in Branson, Mo. after locating there in the ’70s, then moved to San Diego in the early ’80s, where he worked as a real estate appraiser until his return to the Branson/Springfield, Mo. area.

Steve Cahill is survived by a brother, Douglas (Kathryn) Cahill; a sister, Susan (George) Pappas; three nieces and a nephew; and two great-nieces and two great-nephews.
