Grace Kevil, 96, Lifelong Oak Park resident

Grace V. Kevil (nee Dewbray), 96, a lifelong resident of Oak Park, died on Jan. 1, 2011. Born in Oak Park on Nov. 25, 1914 to the late Samuel and Rose Mackey Dewbray, she attended Longfellow and Oak Park and River Forest High School.

Mrs. Kevil worked at Shriners Hospital for Children in Chicago before her retirement. A devout Catholic and die-hard Cub fan, she said her rosary and novena every day.

Grace Kevil is survived by her children, Carol Ann (Edward) Mulvihill, Charles Jr. (Mary), Frank (Colleen), Tom (Lusia) and Rosemary (Tom) Serio; her grandchildren, Edward (Donna) Mulvihill, Denise (the late Tom) Smith and Colleen Mulvihill, Steven (Nicci) and David (Sharon) Kevil, Leslie (John) Carney and Patrick Kevil, Kyle and Lynette Kevil, and Matthew (fiancée Jennifer) and Andrew Serio; her 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles P. Kevil; and her siblings, John, Tom and Rose Dewbray, Mary Morrison, Bernice Noone, June Murphy and Virginia Craver. Visitation was held on Jan. 5 at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home in Oak Park. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Jan. 6 at Ascension Church in Oak Park, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside. Memorials to Ascension Church are appreciated.
