After recent heavy snowfalls, Oak Parker Dale Janush estimates he’s pumped 6,370 gallons of water over 26 hours just to keep his garage from becoming an “ice rink.”
Janush posted his “No Wake Zone” sign last Wednesday, which has drawn a few laughs from neighbors, but not much notice from the village.
He’s tried getting his alley?#34;behind the 800 block of North Elmwood Avenue?#34;bumped up on the village’s alley re-do list, but hasn’t had much success.
His portion of the alley suffers the most flooding, as he’s on the lowest point at the block.
“The problem is where I’m situated I get all the water from two houses north and three houses to the south,” he said. “It goes right into my garage.”
He has a pump near his garage just to handle the alley water.
