Youth baseball/softball registration
In-person registration for 2005 Oak Park Youth Baseball/Softball will take place on Saturday, Feb. 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Longfellow Center, corner of Jackson and Ridgeland. All players must be registered and fees paid on one of the registration dates. The program is open to all boys and girls ages 6-12 whose parent or guardian resides in Oak Park, who attend an Oak Park school, or whose parent or guardian is a volunteer in the program. More information will be distributed in schools and by mail, on the OPYB/S website

Baseball camp
The Concordia Cougar Baseball Program welcomes all boys and girls, ages 7 and up, to attend the Cougar Kids Baseball Camp. The camp will be held in Geiseman Gymnasium at Concordia University, 7400 W. Augusta St., in River Forest.

The camp will be conducted for four weeks on Friday evenings in January and February. Each session will be two weeks in length, with session one running on January 14 and 21, and session two running on February 11 and 18. The areas of focus this year will be hitting and pitching. The hitting instruction will be given by Joe Karasewski, Concordia's hitting coach. Pitching instruction will come from Spiro Lempesis, Concordia head baseball coach, and Jim Paduch, former Cougar player and 12th round draft choice of the Cincinnati Reds in 2003.

Participants between the ages of 7-10 will attend from 7 to 8:15 p.m. The session for ages 11 and up will be from 8:30 to 9:45 p.m. Cost per session will be $70.00. Sign up for more than one session and receive a $20.00 discount.

There are a limit of spaces in each session, so early registration is encouraged. For more information, contact Spiro Lempesis at 209-3125.

Football camp
The 23rd Annual Justin Gage/Revie Sorey All Pro Football Camp featuring Jerry Azumah returns to River Forest this summer at Concordia University.

The camp features Non-contact instruction by the nation's top NFL pros and high school & college coaches.

All positions & all levels of ability are taught to boys 10 -18.

Although enrollment is limited, the camp is now taking applications.

Strikers tryouts
The Strikers Soccer Club will be holding tryouts for two of its boys spring teams on Sunday, Jan. 23. The boys U11 team (birthdays between 8/1/93 - 7/31/94) and the boys U14 team (birthdays between 8/1/90 - 7/31/91) each has several openings. Tryouts will be held at OPRF High School.

Windmills banquet
The Oak Park Windmills will host their annual Winter Snowball Banquet on Friday, Jan. 28 from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Porretta's Banquet Hall, 3718 N. Central Ave., Chicago.

The Windmills will be honoring the following coaches: Phil Waldron, Bruce Morgan, Ray and Kelly Ostler, all of which have coached and instructed many athletes from Fenwick and Oak Park and River Forest High School.

Dinner, music, and a silent auction will be part of the festivities. Tickets at the door are $30.00.

RF registration
River Forest Youth Baseball Softball is currently having registration for the 2005 Season. Registration fees paid after Feb. 15th will incur a $30 late fee. The Gazettes will be sent home with the Public Elementary School Students. They are also available at the River Forest Library, River Forest Community Center and the River Forest Park District office.
