An incident of disorderly conduct occurred in the 100 block of North Ridgeland Avenue at 2:48 a.m., Jan. 8 when a man rang the doorbell to a home twice and then threw a plastic flowerpot, striking the front screen door of the residence. 

When the victim yelled at the man, he fled eastbound on Ontario Street.

Burglary

Someone removed the lock on the front passenger door of a vehicle and then removed construction tools from inside between 6 p.m., Jan. 4 and 7:29 a.m., Jan. 5 in the 200 block of South Austin Boulevard. Loss unknown.

A bag of makeup, three sets of keys, wrapped Christmas presents and five light fixtures were taken out of an unlocked vehicle between 9:30 p.m., Jan. 5 and 7 a.m., Jan. 6 in the 600 block of North East Avenue. The estimated loss is $6,390.

Someone entered an unlocked residential garage then ransacked the interior of a vehicle parked inside between midnight, Jan. 5 and 2 p.m., Jan. 6 in the 200 block of Iowa Street. No loss was reported.

Motor vehicle theft

Someone took a red 2018 Toyota Corolla left running in the 400 block of North Lombard Avenue at 10:48 p.m., Jan. 5. It was last seen going eastbound on Superior Street. The estimated loss is $15,000.

Theft

Someone cut the catalytic converter from a vehicle in the first block of Washington Boulevard between 3 p.m., Jan 1 and 8:30 a.m., Jan. 4. The estimated loss is unknown.

A person was observed underneath the victim's vehicle cutting its catalytic converter at12:06 a.m., Jan. 7 in the 400 block of North Austin Boulevard. The estimated loss is $200.

Criminal trespass

Someone entered an apartment through an open bathroom window in the 1100 block of Washington Boulevard at 9:55 p.m., Jan. 4. No loss was reported.

These items, obtained from the Oak Park Police Department, came from reports Jan. 4 – Jan. 11 and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Anyone named in these reports has only been charged with a crime and cases have not yet been adjudicated. We report the race of a suspect only when a serious crime has been committed, the suspect is still at large, and police have provided us with a detailed physical description of the suspect as they seek the public's help in making an arrest.
