Is our reputation gathering dust?

Opinion: Letters To The Editor

Perhaps this will have changed by the time this is published, but I am incredibly disappointed that our village trustees have not issued a statement condemning the hate crime perpetrated against Live Cafe, as they were quick to do after the vandalism at Mayor Abu-Taleb's home — and as River Forest trustees forthrightly did after a hate crime against a resident there. Are we to draw the conclusion that some property is more valuable than others? Has our once-vaunted history of standing up to racial bigotry turned to dust?
