At the library, a patriotic celebration for kids: There’s fun stuff to do all day long in the Children’s Room, on the first floor of the main branch of Oak Park Public Library: a presidential trivia quiz, the chance to sign a giant version of the Declaration of Independence and red, white and blue supplies to make a patriotic art project. At Eastgate Café, an aloha bash for Barack Obama: GiGi Wong-Monaco, the Honolulu-born and -raised owner of Wonderwall Music Shoppe & Emporium in the Oak Park Arts District, is beaming that the next president of the United States attended Punahou School, a neighborhood school she well knew back in Hawaii.

To celebrate as the fellow Hawaiian two years her junior ascends to the White House, Wong-Monaco and her Oak Park Ukulele Meetup Group are joining up with the Move On Civic Action to party Hawaiian-style at Eastgate Café, the ukulele players’ Thursday night home. Eastgate Café’s Olya Dailey is planning a Hawaiian dinner special around tuna. Suggested attire is anything Hawaiian or an Obama T.

At Buzz Café, a farewell party to George Bush: From 5 to 9 p.m., a Texas-themed dinner special will be on the menu. The special will include farewell cake for dessert. Diners celebrating the changeover of power are invited to arrive in their finest Obamawear. Yes, there will be a contest for the most Obamafied partygoer.
