Betty M. Piper, 92, of Oak Park, formerly of Westchester, died on Dec. 27, 2018. Born on June 29, 1926, she was a master seamstress and quilter and worked for many years for the Singer Sewing Machine Co. and later JoAnn Fabrics in the Chicago area.

Betty was the wife of the late Hugh D. Piper; the mother of David and Vicky (Brian Crawford) Piper; the grandmother of Sheridan and Delaney Crawford; the sister of Marge (the late Allan) Johnson, Ruth (the late Chuck) Norton, Lucille (the late James) Hofbauer, Gloria (the late Jack) Burback, the late Jack (the late Shirley) Marlowe, Sally (the late James) Thele, Joyce Vukelic and Robert Marlowe; the sister-in-law of the late Norman (Gerri) Piper; and the aunt and great-aunt of many. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 4 from 3:30 p.m. until time of the wake service, 7:30 p.m., at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home, 203 S. Marion St., Oak Park. Friends and family will meet at Ascension Church on Saturday, Jan. 5 to celebrate a funeral Mass at 9:45 a.m., followed by private interment at Assumption Cemetery in Glenwood. 

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra ( are appreciated.
