Hotels, bowling alleys, catering services and brew pubs are among the businesses that will now be allowed to sell alcoholic drinks starting at 9 a.m., under an ordinance approved Monday by the village board of trustees.

Some businesses such as restaurants were able to start serving Mimosas and Bloody Mary's at 9 a.m. while others were required to wait until 11 a.m., according to Village Attorney Paul Stephanides

Stephanides said in a telephone interview that the inconsistencies in the village code needed to be cleared up to "create an even playing field" for businesses.

Brew pubs were added to accommodate the new Hamburger Mary's/Oak Park Brewing Company, 155 S. Oak Park Ave., which is expected to open later this year.
