The following is a sponsored post on behalf of Quaker and its line of healthy, delicious breakfast foods that provide fuel for active families.
Are your kids keeping active this summer? Mine certainly are. JR was in a full-day camp — his first! — that included every sport imaginable from martial arts to volleyball. Zuzu spent two weeks at overnight camp where she walked all over and played sports everyday. During the summer we also enjoy swimming, biking and tennis as a family. That's just a lot of activity!
When I know that my family has a long, active day ahead of them, I really want to start their day with a healthy, filling breakfast. But it has to be a healthy, filling breakfast that they will actually eat or there is no point to it, right? As parents, we need healthy and tasty breakfast options or the day will not get off to a good start for anyone. Fortunately, Quaker Instant Oatmeal is a favorite with the whole family: maple and brown sugar for the kids and apple cinnamon for my husband. I love giving my family Quaker Oatmeal for breakfast because 1) it's easy to prepare, 2) they enjoy it and 3) I know it will keep them satisfied and fueled all morning long.
In fact, Quaker offers an extensive array of oat-based breakfast products that provide much-needed fuel for active families. Quaker has recently introduced some new products that combine nourishment, taste and convenience, such as Quaker Perfect Portions – a customizable instant oatmeal that comes in a convenient, multiserve package with no added sugar. This allows me to make enough for one kid or two kids and sweeten it only as much as I want. I really appreciate the ability to control how much sugar — and what kind of sugar — my kids are eating. For the adults, there is Quaker Real Medleys – a premium oatmeal made with wholesome multigrains and chunks of real fruit and nuts in single-serve cups that are ready to eat in minutes. So much healthier and economical than paying for an overpriced oatmeal at a coffee house or fast food restaurant that is probably loaded with sugar.
And for those times when we are running late, Quaker has healthy grab-and-go breakfast options, like granola bars and even wholesome breakfast cookies. Personally, when I'm in a rush to eat breakfast — and frankly, that's every single day — I like Quaker's Soft Baked Bars, which come in Cinnamon Nut and Banana Nut flavors, and are only 140 calories. But with 5 grams of fiber and 6 grams of protein, they keep me full until lunch.
Quaker not only makes delicious products that fuel active kids, the company also encourage physical activity through its partnership with Chicago's Major League Soccer (MLS) team, the Chicago Fire. As part of the partnership, Quaker sponsors the Chicago Fire Juniors, the club's youth player development program that supports more than 10,000 soccer kids and families in Chicago and nationally. Are your kids soccer players? Zuzu has given up soccer for swimming, but JR loves soccer and plays on a team in our town. I think it is terrific that Quaker supports this popular youth sport that helps kids stay healthy and active.
Hundreds of junior soccer players are going to be in for a huge treat later this summer when Quaker and The Chicago Fire team up to host The Quaker Invitational. This event, held on August 9-10 will bring together hundreds of Chicago Fire Juniors teams from around the country for a weekend of soccer, community and fun. The two winning youth teams will earn a chance to play on the Chicago Fire's home field, Toyota Park in Bridgeview, on Sunday, August 11. Each player in the tournament will also receive a free game ticket to attend the Chicago Fire vs. Montreal Impact MLS game at Toyota Park on Saturday August 10. What a great event for these young people and their families!
So if you are looking for ways to keep your active kids fueled and satisfied all day long, now and when school starts again in the fall, count on Quaker to provide your family with lots of tasty and nourishing breakfast options.
Full disclosure time: This is a sponsored post and I am being compensated by Quaker to talk about its products and its sponsorship of youth soccer. As always, all opinions expressed herein are entirely my own. My family buys and uses Quaker products regularly.
