Dominican University's Graduate School of Library and Information Science (GSLIS) has named assistant professor Mary Pat Fallon as director of its doctor of philosophy in library and information science program. She will assume the position in the fall 2013 academic year. The Ph.D. program, which began in 2009, graduated its first cohort in January 2012.

Fallon received her Ed.D. from Benedictine University, her master of library and information science degree from Dominican, a master of arts degree from DePaul University, and a bachelor of science degree from the University of Wisconsin–Menomonie. She has been at Dominican for 16 years, arriving first as instructional services librarian in the Rebecca Crown Library and receiving a promotion to assistant director of the library. She joined the faculty of GSLIS in 2006 and served as a chair of the committee that initially designed the curriculum for the doctoral program.

"This is a particularly exciting time for our innovative doctoral program. Having been involved with this program from its inception, I'm eager to lead it forward as it grows and continues to develop," says Fallon.
