Staff Reporter

Construction is expected to begin on Austin Boulevard later this summer, following approval by the Oak Park Board of Trustees to spend $730,000 on the project.

That is only half the cost of the project that will resurface the roadway and replace sidewalks and corner ramps along Austin Boulevard. The remainder will be paid for with state and federal funds administered through the city of Chicago.

The boulevard is the dividing line between Oak Park and Chicago and, therefore, jointly owned by the two entities.

The roadway was last resurfaced in 2001.
