Third Unitarian Church will hold its 38th Annual Scholarship Award ceremony on Sunday, June 10th, 11am. Fourteen Austin-community high school seniors headed for college will each receive $1,000 scholarships. Area congregations including Third Unitarian, Joliet Unitarian, Unity Temple in Oak Park and Winnetka Congregational Church raised the funds. A reception with refreshments will follow the award ceremony.

On Tuesday, May 29th, TUC's minister, Rev. Brian Covell, spoke with several of the scholarship recipients and some of their parents about what to expect at the ceremony and what was expected of them in terms of grades and follow through to receive all of their awarded funds. The number of applicants and the quality of their academic records was especially high this year. So, competition was greater than usual.
