TEDxOakParkWomen has announced it is holding its second annual lecture series on Oct. 27 at the Nineteenth Century Club to be focused on the national TED theme, "It's About Time."

TED is a nonprofit organization known for holding lectures and short talks by leading thinkers.

Speakers interested in the event can apply at www.TEDxOakParkWomen.com to be considered as a potential speaker, according to a TEDxOakParkWomen press release. The deadline to apply is June 24.

"We had incredible success with a sold-out inaugural TEDxOakParkWomen event last year. Knowing just how much our community embraces the TED organization coupled with strong women among us, I am thrilled for our team to host yet another successful event," Tania Haigh, an organizer and curator of the event, said.

Lisa Thornton, M.D., a speaker from last year's TEDxOakParkWomen, will serve as emcee of this year's lecture series.

"As a mom and a pediatrician who specializes in the care of children with disabilities, I believe it's incredibly important that our community makes an effort to talk about these relevant, global issues and share innovative ideas to solve problems – on both a macro and micro scale," Thornton said.

I am thrilled to see this become an annual OP tradition! Tania is a dynamo, as are all the women who banded together last year to make this happen. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help!
