Lincoln School and Oak Park District 97 fourth grade Spanish Immersion teacher Kathleen Priceman was honored with a Distinguished Teacher Award by the Chicago Area Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP) at a luncheon in Northfield, IL on June 4.  She was honored for her contributions to the furthering of Spanish language education in the community and to the association, as well as her support and participation in the Chapter poetry contest with her students.  Ms. Priceman is one of only a handful of teachers at the elementary level to offer this opportunity to her students.  Her award recognizes her accomplishments in and out of the classroom.

Ms. Priceman was instrumental in pioneering the Spanish Immersion program at Lincoln and OP97 almost 20 years ago.  In addition, for over 10 years she has served as a board member and as the President and Vice President of the Illinois Conference for Teachers of a Foreign Language (ICTFL).  In 2014, Ms. Priceman was the Illinois ICTFL Teacher of the Year and is also the Illinois state representative for NNELL, the National Network for Early Language Learning.  Ms. Priceman is a 22 year resident of Oak Park, and has received numerous nominations and awards over the years for her work in the Spanish Immersion community.
