Who says third and fourth graders can’t wow a crowd? They can; just ask Susan Van Dusartz, Administrator of CAST Summer Youth Art Institute. Recently, Van Dusartz gave me a run down on this unique camp of camaraderie, caring and creativity packed into four weeks of summer fun replete with top-notch camp counselors, a director, a choreographer, and afternoons filled with classes from visual arts, mystery to film.

“CAST Summer Youth Art Institute is a great way to expose your child to different experiences at a young age in a safe environment and to see what sticks!” Van Dusartz explained. “Kids come with their friends, and then, meet new kids with a variety of interests. Camp ends with two shows playing this Thursday, June 30th and Friday, July 1st. Show time is 7:30 - 8:15 p.m. each evening at Percy Julian Middle School Auditorium with doors opening at 7:15 p.m.”

Tickets for Close Encounters of a Kid Kind can be purchased online at (click on Close Encounter of a Kid Kindor at the door: $7 for adults and $5 for children.

Bring your family, especially your young ones who might be interested in participating next summer. Van Dusartz encourages parents to register their kids early for this popular camp experience (sign-up starts as early as March).
