8th Annual Student Art Show & Auction at Magic Tree Bookstore
Benefiting Oak Park Education Foundation Art Start

By Melissa Ford
Magic Tree Bookstore is hosting The 8th Annual Student Art Auction to benefit the Oak Park Education Foundation (OPEF), running May 14th - June 1st.
Beautiful, colorful, bird-themed art work has been crafted by 6th grade artists from Brooks and Julian Middle Schools! Bidding is open to the public and starts at $15 with a "Buy It Now" option of $30 per piece.
Working with art teachers, Chris Worley and Kristi Murray, Oak Park Middle School artists explored birds in a variety of habitats: nature, the table or their wild imaginations. Influenced by the American modern artist, Charley Harper, and the Inuit culture of the Northwest coast, our local artists created relief prints nesting in collaged papers and finished with fine tip sharpies for added design and detail. Each piece is unique, creating a wonderful display of shapes, color combinations, patterns and textures.
Magic Tree Bookstore is donating all proceeds from the show to benefit the Oak Park Education Foundation's Art Start program, which matches visual and performing artists with Oak Park District 97 students for hands-on residencies. OPEF is an independent, non-profit organization.
Come visit Magic Tree Bookstore to view these young artists' works of art, and take home your favorite piece!
