Coach - Personal & Business

How soon should you start talking to your child about smoking, drinking and drug use? How much do you reveal to your child beyond alluding to “it’s bad”?

Talking is prevention and no matter how uncomfortable you might feel - it puts substance abuse education into your own hands rather than leaving it to the street.

On Monday, April 11th at Percy Julian Middle School (416 Ridgeland Avenue, Oak Park) from 7:00 - 8:15 pm, you and your child are invited to:

5th Grade Parent/Child Cafe

What Your 5th Grader Needs to Know About Smoking, Drinking and Drug Use.

This fun and engaging event will prepare you and your child for the challenges and decisions they may face in 6th, 7th and 8th grades. This interactive event will feature:

Role playing

Small group discussion

5th Grade Activity

6th Grade Presentation

Co-sponsored by District 97, Oak Park Township Youth Services and The Middle School and Parent Action Committees on Teen Alcohol and Substance Use.

See you there!

Over 100 people participated in the Parent/5th Grade Cafe last night at Percy Julian Middle School! What an amazing turnout to support parents and kids keeping the lines of communication open.

This should be a great event, helping 5th graders to feel empowered to make good decisions in middle school.
