Readers, pack your bags. Today we pay an imaginary visit to Brooklyn via the Oak Park Public Library – or more specifically, to a special garden there. Some of the great bargains for gardeners can be found among the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens publications.

Over the years I have enjoyed these brief, reasonably priced guidebooks. You may have seen them at the Arboretum or Chicago Botanic Garden bookstores.  I have purchased some nearly three decades ago and I still value them.  In them you will find brief essays or articles on the topic at hand gleaned from the archives of one of the world’s foremost public gardens.

PS: The library currently has dozens of garden themed books on display and ready for checkout.
