For many, visiting the dentist can be a stressful experience. From costs and insurance coverage to fear of dental procedures, people have a hard time making it in to see the dentist. Colgate reports that an estimated that 9% to 15% of Americans avoid seeing the dentist because of anxiety and fear. Morton Family Dental is doing their part to reduce the discomfort that visiting the dentist can bring.

Morton Family Dental of Berwyn aims to be a one-stop-shop for dental procedures. Traditional dentistry might have patients making appointments with different providers for specialized services, but Morton houses the full range of dental services in one convenient location. The practice promotes oral health and overall wellness through bilingual patient education and state-of-the-art treatment and technology.

The practice offers general dentistry (fillings, gum treatments, extractions), cosmetic dentistry (wisdom teeth, whitening, veneers), restorative dentistry (braces, root canal, implants, dentures) and more. For those seeking comfort, conscious sedation is available. What's more, the practice utilizes cutting edge dental technology to deliver their services, such as digital and panoramic X-rays and 3D imaging, intraoral cameras and lasers. The doctors understand that dental procedures can be costly, so in addition to accepting insurance, they work to provide payment plans to ease financial burdens.

The three dentists and the professional staff behind Morton Family Dental bring a mixture of skills and experience to the table. What connects them above all is their dedication to helping others.

Dr. Mario Serrano, DDS received his Bachelor of Science at Ohio State University, his dental degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry and has participated in additional studies, including Endodontics, Pedodontics and Periodontics.  He has made local investment a priority, sponsoring Morton West High School programs and attending local health fairs and school events.

Dr. Sara Vafa, DMD earned her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology at Tehran University, Iran, attended dental school at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, and completed an additional residency program at the UCLA Medical Center. Dr. Vafa is dedicated to helping others, serving time on dental mission trips in Haiti and Peru for humanitarian dentistry.

Dr. Lawrence Toledano, DDS received his dental degree at the University of Colorado, School of Dental Medicine. He is focused on bringing the best services and results to others and participated in outreach programs in the Philippines. When working with patients, Dr. Toledano always tries to listen to his patients and address concerns through patient education.

The Doctors at Morton Family Dental recognize a need for more comfortable experiences for dental patients. "A lot of people fear visiting the dentist, so it's very important to make sure your patients feel comfortable," said Dr. Serrano. To accomplish this, they start with a relaxed waiting room environment and build up to equally inviting dental rooms. Each station offers flat screen televisions and calming music. "We truly value our patients and try to provide the best quality services at an affordable price," said Dr. Vafa.

Through the support of the City of Berwyn and the BDC, Morton Family Dental received Tax Increment Financing (TIF) for simple façade improvements on the 1,500 square foot, vacant storefront on Cermak Road and enhanced the simultaneous, broader redevelopment of the building.

"The BDC is proud to support your efforts at improving your property and the overall health of our community. It brings a smile to our world," said BDC Board President Jousef Mondragon. Mayor Robert J. Lovero continued, "The redevelopment of this office space is fantastic.  Thank you for your investment in Cermak Road and welcome to the community."
