The River Forest Library will once again be participating in Celebrating Seniors Week, which will take place between May 14th and May 21st. Organized by the Celebrating Seniors Coalition, the week will bring more than 40 events to Oak Park, River Forest and Forest Park.

The River Forest Library is excited to be offering the following programs:

Saturday, 5/16, 1 PM, Salzburg: The Sound of Music City
Transport yourself to Austria, and get immersed in the sounds and sights of the great city of Salzburg. We will visit Hohensalzburg - the largest preserved fortress in central Europe; St. Peterskeller - the oldest wine bar in the world; and the palaces and locations associated with the film, The Sound of Music; along with other significant locations in this fascinating city. Presented by Al Popowits.

Tuesday, 5/19, 10:30 AM, Trailside Museum: The Legend of Virginia Moe
Interested in local history?  Join us by the fireplace and listen to local author Jane Morocco talk about her recently published book Trailside Museum: The Legend of Virginia Moe.

Thursday, 5/21, 7:30 PM, The Chicago Music Scene of the 1960's & 1970's
Dean Milano will share photos, stories and songs from his book, which based on his own experiences in Chicago's vibrant music world.  Your chance to get an insider's view of just what is was like, as well as revive your own memories of those exciting times.

Seniors are a special focus for The River Forest Library, which provides many programs year round that are geared towards seniors, such as Coffee Mondays and Computer Learning Labs. The Library is again partnering with the River Forest Township in order to provide its "Let's Celebrate Seniors All Year Long" series of programs, which will be offered this summer and fall. More information will be available soon.
