Oak Park's Telescope Night, organized by the village's first NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory's Solar System Ambassador, Mark Benson, has made its first trip around the sun.
To celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Telescope Nights, Benson is bringing a team from Adler Planetarium to Scoville Park, 800 Lake St., on Thursday, April 25 from 8 to 9 p.m.
"Over 1,500 people have come out and looked up at the night sky with me (over the last year)," Benson said in an email. "I'm so grateful for all of you for supporting these programs and spreading the word to neighbors and friends."
He said the Adler team will provide "extra telescopes, space rocks to touch and expertise to tap into!"
Also, an Oak Parker high-schooler who is in the Adler's Teen Program will be at the event to help facilitate.
Benson noted he has reserved space inside the Oak Park Main Library to host NASA presentations, give participants a chance to touch space rocks and answer questions.
