The River Forest Historic Preservation Commission is seeking nominations for the 2016 Historic Preservation Awards. The application process is open to “homeowners, architects or contractors who have completed jobs in River Forest since Jan. 1, 2011,” according to a statement recently released by the commission.

The awards, which were established by the commission in 2009 to “help preserve the historic character” of River Forest, are given in several different categories, including streetscape compatibility, adaptive reuse and architectural detail.

Award applications, which can be downloaded from the River Forest village website, are due on or before May 27. Award winners will be announced at a June 23 regular commission meeting.

Winning structures don’t need “to be in a historic district and may be a residential (single family or multiple unit), commercial, public/institutional or religious structure.”
