The Community Mental Health Board of Oak Park Township has partnered with the Northwestern University Department of Psychiatry, Thrive Counseling Center and NAMI Metro-Suburban for a one night event that will help you understand the essentials of mental health law.

Keynote speakers Marcia Horan and Joe Monahan are two of the most knowledgeable names in mental health law, facilitating a discussion on mental illness and the court system in general, with a focus on outpatient court ordered medication and treatment.

Marcia Horan serves as Assistant State’s Attorney for Cook County in the Seniors and Persons with Disabilities Division, and Joe Monahan has more than 27 years of experience in mental health and confidentiality law, probate, health and human services issues, and related matters. He continues to serve as an adjunct professor at Loyola University School of Law, where he has taught mental health law for many years.

Come join this informative presentation to explore ways that you can use mental health law as a supportive tool to promote recovery for those you love living with mental illness.

Where: The Nineteenth Century Club, 178 Forest Avenue, Oak Park
When: Wednesday, April 4, 2012
