Cigars and Stripes went up against other local favorites Lavergne's Tavern, Paisans Pizzeria & Bar, Waldo Cooney's Pizza and Wing Boss. The final competition brought together a group of local judges for a blind taste-test event hosted by the Berwyn Public Library. The judges compared each serving of wings side-by-side based on taste, presentation and texture.

The panel enjoyed the variety of wings, making the decision a difficult one. Of the winner, one judge said "just the perfect amount of taste and size" Judges included Ryan Adriatico, Project Manager of Economic Development for the BDC; Tom Benson, Owner of World's Largest Laundromat; Daisy Sanchez, Trainer at Women's Workout World; Angie Pojas, ED Director at MacNeal Hospital; Adam Arroyo, Manager of Berwyn's Culver's and David Green, Head CSI Detective at the Berwyn Police Department. Their scores along with a public poll determined the contest winner.

Owner Ronnie Lottz reacted to the award saying, "Berwyn rocks, plain and simple. This town is loaded with hot spots to grab a bite. Our wings are just one small slice of what this community has to offer. Just look around you, get out and EAT already!"
