The annual Excellence in Philanthropy awards recognize, honor and encourage local philanthropy. Each award recipient designates a nonprofit to receive a grant from the Foundation, emphasizing the impact that charitable giving can have. This year’s Outstanding Individual Philanthropist Chatka Ruggiero selected the Animal Care League to receive a $1000 grant. William and Robert Planek’s OakParkApartments.com as recipients of the Outstanding Philanthropic Business chose The Oak Park & River Forest Day Nursery to receive a $500 grant. The Tau Gamma Service Club of Oak Park-River Forest High School earned the Outstanding Philanthropic Youth Group and identified Sarah’s Inn to receive a $500 grant for their focus on eliminating domestic violence.

The Foundation invites nominations throughout the year for its three Excellence in Philanthropy Awards. Call 708-848-1560 for more information or to obtain application materials.
