Cool pool, seasonal warmth

Local artist Mike Riley has an oil painting, titled, "Community Pool," on display in the window of Paul Hamer's Frame Warehouse on Harrison Street. The painting features Rehm Park in full, glorious summer (roughly 2009, when his daughter would swim there). But it took him until 2014 to finish the painting.

"I thought you might find subject matter interesting," Riley wrote, "especially considering the current polar vortex."

We do indeed. Any reminder of another season at this point is appreciated.

Riley says he graduated with an art degree from UIC, and his "pay the mortgage" job is state-certified residential real estate appraiser.
