OPRF's fall art show goes virtual
In days of crowded halls and mass gathering, artwork created by students taking classes at Oak Park and River Forest High School was displayed on walls for all to see. With remote learning, a creative solution was found to celebrate and share student class art from Foundations to Painting, Drawing, Ceramics, Photography, Metalworking & Jewelry, and Graphic Design through AP Studio as well as art club works.
A virtual art gallery, which looks like the inside of a museum with separate rooms for each discipline, was devised. (view here: oprfvisualarts.weebly.com)
All art was created remotely during the fall semester. For classes requiring equipment, such as those with clay, the visual arts department kept the classes running.
According to Jackie McGoey, communications and community relations coordinator at the high school, for an activity such as wheel throwing, portable table-top wheels "were distributed to students on a rotating basis." Others opted to work at ViaClay, Oak Park, a community pottery studio, she said.
