A box full of blessings on Lake Street

Pilgrim Congregational Church, 460 Lake St. in Oak Park, has opened a 'blessing box' on its front lawn. The box will be available during the holiday season and provides free food, diapers, and other items to those in need. There are no hours of operation or other requirements. Those in need of food should simply help themselves.
The "blessing box" is Pilgrim's response to the dire need for food assistance in the community. Feeding America's Map the Meal Gap Study reveals one in seven people living in Cook County will experience food insecurity this year and in some parts of the county more than 50% of residents face obstacles to accessing food.
Pilgrim is encouraging community members to add items to the blessing box if they are inclined and able.
