Before Kathy Griffin was the spunky, fast talking, racy comic we know of because of television, she was a kid growing up in Oak Park and Forest Park. Griffin sat down with Huffington Post Live Monday afternoon to talk about her career, pop culture and much more.
If you have never heard any of Griffin's material, note that she uses pretty explicit language.
The two-time Emmy winner was born in Oak Park on Nov. 4, 1960—Happy Birthday, Kathy—and she graduated from Oak Park River Forest High School in 1978.
She moved from the Chicagoland area to California where she, much like other well-known comedians, started performing with improv group the Los Angeles Groundlings. After appearing in episodes of 'ER' and 'Seinfield' and being a witty regular on 'Suddenly Susan' in the 1990s, she became the star of her own reality show, 'Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List', in 2005.
The Bravo show all about not being quite famous enough was, ironically, a huge success and the reason for her two Emmys.
