Animal Care League (ACL) Holiday Bazaar

Nanotechnology: What is it and Why is it Important?

In easy to understand language, explore the complex topic of nanotechnology, which is the manipulation of matter on an atomic, molecular and supramolecular scale. Dr. Tolou Shokuhfar, Associate Professor and Director of the In-Situ Nanomedicine Laboratory, UIC Department of Bioengineering, will focus on smart and multifunctional nanobiomaterials for enhancing human health. Medicare Prescription Plan Enrollment Help

Up to Dec. 7, with Oak Park Township Senior Services' Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) Counselors

Seniors and individuals with disabilities who would like assistance on evaluating and changing prescription plans, can meet with a SHIP Counselor to review existing coverage and select a drug plan to meet each individuals' needs. Options include changing from original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage plan; changing from a Medicare Advantage plan to original Medicare; joining, dropping or switching Medicare Part D drug plans; or switch Medicare Advantage plans. Living History Project

Youth in grades 6 through 12 learn about the histories of social movements in the U.S. while developing youth leadership skills, such as cultivating social and critical thinking skills, developing research skills and gain public speaking experience. COVID Anxiety: Helping Your Kids Do the Impossible During Online Learning

As children navigate online learning during the pandemic, anxiety may manifest in many ways. Dr. Erin Terada and Madison Hewitt, LCSW, will provide an overview of anxiety related to the impact on social and academic environments, highlight the differences between normal anxiety and clinically-relevant anxiety, provide parents with strategies for helping their children adapt to change and anxiety-related behavioral issues.
