Berwyn Park District was presented with a BDC philanthropic grant for the Shadow Creek Disc Golf Course at Proksa Park. The grant provided Berwyn Park District with funds to create a 9-hole disc golf course in Proksa Park. The project brings a unique activity to Berwyn that the community didn't have before, one that is designed to increase physical activity, create a socially inclusive environment for all ages and encourage visitors to utilize Berwyn's parks, stores and restaurants. A ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of the course was held in conjunction with the Berwyn Development Corporation on September 23.

"This project has been a long time coming and we're thrilled that it is finally complete and open to the community. Thank you, Berwyn Development Corporation, for helping us bring the course to life," said Berwyn Park District Executive Director Jeff Janda.

"It's great to see community members of all ages at the course ready to get active and create memories here in Berwyn," said Berwyn Development Corporation Board President Richard "Jousef" Mondragon.

The Berwyn Park District is a special district unit of government that provides for recreational and park related facilities, programs and resident needs. Their mission is "to enrich the quality of life the community by providing superior parks, facilities and recreational services in a fiscally responsible manner."
