In late October, as my edible and native plant gardens naturally die off and go to seed, I am inclined to shift focus to a another place where interesting things are planted and popping up.

Yes, I am talking about dead people, and recently I did see some on the third Sunday in October at Forest Home Cemetery in Forest Park, during my annual trek to the Historical Society of Oak Park and River Forest's Tale of the Tombstones cemetery walkabout.

This year's theme was the Civil War, and yes, out of the corner of my eye I did spy President Abraham Lincoln, plus a few union soldiers from Oak Park who came back from the grave to publicly share their personal stories.
